…or should I say ¡Hola!? Let me be the first to raise his hand when asked if Sergio’s playoff win at The Players Championship was a surprise. Despite the fact that he had dominated the first round, I seriously thought Sergio was going to gag on the pressure like we have seen him do in the past. However, the real choking came from Paul Goydos who had the tournament wrapped up with a mere par on the final hole. In fact, I turned the tv off after Paulie’s par putt on 17 circled the cup but still fell. I thought that was as good a wake-up call as one could have to just get the job done. Sorry Paulie, I guess it was not to be. You should have realized that bogeying the 18th was enough to give Sergio momentum he needed. You may as well have inscribed his name on the trophy for him.

Congratulations Sergio. I guess we’ll be seeing you at all the major tournaments for the next 3-5 years. For your sake, let’s hope the rest of the field will back down and let you win a couple more.
